Accredited Principal Designer

Wilson Adrain Safety Management Ltd are an accredited Principal Designer with SMAS Worksafe. This means that we have met the SSIP core criteria recognised by the HSE and other SSIP accreditation schemes.This accreditation demontrates that we are competent in both safety and have a design and contruction background.

The below is typical of the service we are asked to provide as CDM Principal Designer.

• Plan, manage and monitor health and safety in the pre-construction phase, including identifying, eliminating or controlling foreseeable risks, and ensuring designers carry out their duties.
• Ensure that all persons working in relation to the pre-construction phase cooperate with the Client, the Principal Designer and each other.
• Take into account the general principals of prevention as described in the CDM Regulations 2015.
• Visit the site and prepare a Pre-Construction Information Pack and send a copy to the Principal Contractor, Contractors and Designers.
• Prepare the F10 form and submit it to the HSE. Send a copy to the Principal Contractor for display on site.
• Check the Principal Contractors Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan including Risk Assessments and Method Statements complies with the CDM Regulations.
• Liaise with the Principal Contractor to help with the planning, managing, monitoring and co-ordination of the construction works.
• Visit the site during the first week of the project to carry out a site audit / inspection to check the work is being carried out safely and the Principal Contractor is complying with the CDM Regulations 2015.
• Gather information throughout the project for the Health and Safety File. Information to be collected from the Principal Contractor, Designers and any Client Direct Contractors or Suppliers.
• As soon as possible after completion, prepare one  paper copy and two electronic copies of the Health and Safety File and forward one paper copy and one electronic copy to the client for their retention.
